PRIOR UPDATES
8/10/24 – REMINDER – September is on the horizon, and the monthly HOA General Membership Meetings will resume on September 5th at 7pm. A Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for September 12th at 9am in the clubhouse
7/23/24 – There was a recent post by HOA President, Bill Neal on our Facebook page. If you missed it there, click here to view it. Here are the associated pictures of Wynne homes.
6/30/24 –ONLY HOA MEMBERS CAN POST & OTHER INFO
Many of you would like to post on our Facebook page, but can’t because, even though you are a member of our Facebook page, you aren’t a member of the HOA. We are losing many valuable comments and insights because some of you aren’t HOA members, and we really value your input. Becoming a member is easy and it only costs ten bucks a year. Simply contact our Membership Coordinator: Sandi Pierce [email protected] 954-649-7652
To contact your HOA about anything else use: [email protected]
Your HOA is doing their best to support and defend the residents of Golf Village from unreasonable actions of the park owners, and your support of the HOA is very much appreciated.
A reminder: if the park owners are making unreasonable demands of you because of inspections, push back – you have rights. Let us know what the issue is, what your reactions are, and copy us with any communications. Our residents should not have to suffer anxiety and financial expense because of unreasonable demands.
6/28/24 – In the past week I’ve heard 2 new residents link their inspection findings with the HOA. Please educate your friends and new neighbors about the role of the HOA and explain that all rules and inspections come entirely from the park owners, the Wynne Building Corporation, not from the HOA! Thanks!
6/19/24 – In case there is any confusion about it, we WILL have BUNCO this month – Click here for flyer
6/11/24 – Apologies for not posting the park newsletter regularly since April. Every effort will be made to once again post it regularly so everyone out-of-state can keep up on things. Over the summer, the HOA Happenings will only be posted when there is news. It will resume weekly at the end of August.
5/23/24 – We’re sorry to say that the “Sunday Breakfast at the Grille” planned for this coming Sunday, May 26th, has been cancelled. We only had one volunteer to help (thank you Marie!) and our regular crew members are out of town AND We can’t do it without hands to help.
5/15/24 – We are in need of volunteers to help with the planned Sunday Breakfast at the Grille on 5/26. Please let us know ASAP if you can help! We won’t be able to have the breakfast if we don’t have enough help:( Call Susan at 484-719-6282, or email the HOA website, [email protected].
5/23/24 – GREAT NEWS ABOUT LANDSCAPER DAMAGE LIABILITY!
We have been in touch with the park owners about this situation. They have agreed that the landscapers are liable for damage to your home. The notice that has appeared in the newsletter for some time, that says the landscapers are not liable for damage, will not appear in future newsletters.
We strongly suggest that if you have had damage in the past to your home and/or its skirting, or if you experience damage in the future, that you notify the desk and file a claim.
We are very appreciative that the park owners have responded quickly once this problem was brought to their attention. Thank you to everyone who helped to favorably resolve the issue.
4/25/24 – THANK YOU! The annual Spring Fling was a fun event. Many thanks to everyone who worked to make “Boots & Bandanas” a success. The food was delicious and folks had a great time visiting with friends, playing Corn Hole and Throw the Ax, and of course, dancing. Kudos to Sandi Pierce who coordinated the event and made the BBQ Chicken & to John Pierce her steadfast mate and helper; Vivian Chesanek for the Pulled Pork; Nadine Alderucci for the Baked Beans; Ernie George for the Coleslaw and Fran & Bill Neal for the Peach Cobbler. And special thanks to all who helped with the Raffle Basket & 50/50, decorating, guest sign-in, set up, serving and clean up! Last but not least, thank you to everyone who showed support for our HOA by attending the event.
4/5/24 – We hope everyone is enjoying the advent of Spring. We’ve been blessed with lovely weather. Things are gearing down as many of us head back north for vacations with family or until the Fall. We’re excited about our last big event for the season – our annual Spring Fling. This year our event theme is “Boots & Bandanas” which will feature “Country” food and music. We have some fun games planned, and our DJ will feature country music along with some of our regular favorites and your requests. You are invited to come in country western attire, but that’s not required to come and have fun! Click here to see the flyer that has details. We hope that you’ll join us for and evening of fun, dancing and good food!
3/20/24 – Thanks to all who came to the Caribbean Sunset Pool Party, and a very loud and special shout out to those who helped with cooking, serving, setting up, and cleaning up. Luckily, the day was sunny and not too windy so we were able to have the party outside by the pool as planned. While we wish we’d had canopies for all tables as we had in past years, guests found ways to get shade or cool down as needed. It was so nice to see folks relaxing, swimming, dancing around and chatting with friends. Check out the pictures posted on our Facebook page!
3/5/25 – PLEASE NOTE THAT THE POOL PARTY IS NOW A “CARIBBEAN SUNSET POOL PARTY DINNER DANCE” FROM 4PM to 8PM. Click here to see details. ALSO – there will be a Basket Raffle & 50/50.
2/26/24 – Thanks to one and all who helped to make Saturday’s Craft Fair & Flea Market a success by renting a table, donating Flea Market items to the HOA tables or baked goods to our Bake Sale table. And of course, thanks to all who supported our effort by stopping by to browse and buy.

1/14/24 – We really need to increase foot traffic to our Craft Fair & Flea Market, so we’re asking you to help by posting this flyer wherever you think it will bring folks in, eg. your church, your friend’s clubhouses, your regular restaurant or stores, your Facebook page etc. If you can’t download and print a copy, just let us know and we’ll get copies to you. It’s a team effort!!!! CLICK HERE FOR FLYER
1/7/24 – Apologies to all but the Friday night pre-movie dinner has been cancelled. Sorry for any inconvenience.

11/10/23 – Just a reminder , , , if you have an issue or concern, for example about the park rules, maintenance, or staff, be sure to register your concerns via a concern form you can get at the desk or online. There are links for filing a concern with park management, as well as with the DBPR, under the “Reference Documents & Links” tab here on this website. The more people who speak up, the better chance we have to get the attention of park management to remedy our concerns.
9/28/23 Revised – We have lots of things happening in October! We’ll have the monthly HOA GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING on Thursday, 10/5 at 7pm in the Auditorium. The floor looks much better, and we understand that the sound system has been repaired at last. Then, on Saturday 10/7 we’re holding our annual OKTOBERFEST. The food will be amazing, and we’ll have dancing and a German themed Basket Raffle. Our MOVIE NIGHT will resume on Friday, 10/13 at 7pm and we’ll have GAME NIGHT (BUNCO) on Friday 10/27. At 4pm that same day, 10/29, we’ll be hosting a WELCOME RECEPTION for new park residents at 4pm in the Lounge. We haven’t had one for quite a while so we invite any folks who may have moved here a while ago but missed out on a welcome, to join us on the 29th. As always, your participation and support is both essential and very much appreciated.
9/26/23 – In what we believe is yet another retaliatory action, the park owners, Wynne Building Corporation, will no longer publish HOA information in the park newsletter. That means you will not find information about HOA meetings and events in the weekly newsletter distributed at the clubhouse. We will try to keep you informed through postings on our website, Facebook page and on the bulletin boards at the clubhouse. For those who don’t access information online, our weekly notices will be available in the front pocket of the HOA binder in the clubhouse. Please pass the word to your friends and neighbors!

6/6/23 – Click to see the video of the 2023 Memorial Day Program. Memorial Day 2023 – YouTube
6/3/23 – The Memorial Day program held on 5/29 was beautiful and drew over 100 attendees. The program started outside with the Pledge of Allegiance, some history of the origins of Memorial Day, the lowering of the flag to half-staff, and singing of “God Bless America.” We then went into the auditorium for the rest of the program and ceremonial tribute. Of particular note, this year we were honored to recognize and hear the story of our own Golf Village resident Dan McGee, who as Army Private 1st Class earned the Army Commendation Metal and 2 Bronze Stars, one with a V for exceptional valor. After the meaning of the POW MIA Table was explained, representatives of the 5 service branches laid articles of tribute on the ceremonial “grave.” The program concluded with a silent salute and the playing of Taps and a Taps echo.
Thanks to all who came out to honor our fallen service men and women. Kudos to Russ Hebert, Chuck Koons and Lynne O’Brophy Koons for all their excellent work coordinating the program, and for setting up the POW/MIA table and ceremonial “grave.” Many thanks to other participants: Dick Bartlett, Bob Pietrangelo, Paul O’Connor, Tina Avery, Frank Berlangero, Dave Poscich, Sandi Pierce, Michele Mazone, Ernie George and Susan George. And a last thank you goes to the HOA for providing us all with a beautiful new flag for our outside flagpole.

At 11:00 AM we will go out to the flagpole and lower the flag to half-staff. We will then return to the auditorium for a service honoring our fallen service men and women. We are still seeking volunteers to participate in the program. This need not entail any speaking, just assisting in the program. Contact Chuck Koons at 404-707-6812, or Russ Hebert at 860-712-6001. Please consider helping with this important event!
5/11/23 – This year we will have a Memorial Day Weekend Breakfast on Sunday, May 28th, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Grille. There will be inside and, weather permitting, outside seating. 4/16/23 – The HOA will be serving “Sunday Breakfast at the Grille” on April 30th from 9am to 12pm. (Click here to see the proposed menu on the flyer). We’re hoping for a beautiful morning, but if the weather isn’t good, we’ll just move inside.
EXCITING NEWS! We now have an HOA YouTube channel, FaceBook group and Twitter account. 3/15/23 – This is just a reminder that there is a long-standing dress code for dinner dances. Casual resort wear is fine but please, slacks not shorts, and collared shirts not Tee shirts. Thanks!
3/15/23 – We want to thank everyone who worked so hard to make the 2023 HOA Flea Market a success. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all who bought a table, donated items or baked goods to the HOA tables, helped with setup or cleanup, or worked the Grille. And a special thank you to Jeanne & Russ Hebert, event coordinators, for doing a spectacular job organizing and advertising the event.

For a change of pace, we’re having a catered Chinese Dinner. Dancing Dave DJ will provide the music and there will be a “Spring Fling Basket” raffle as well as a 50/50. 2/27/23 – Unfortunately, we will be unable to have our usual monthly Movie Night on the second Friday of March, 3/10. The Flea Market vendors will be setting up for the Saturday event. We should be back on track for April 14th.
2/27/23 – We’re sure that by now you all have heard the tragic news about the Spanish Lakes Fairways resident who was killed by a very large alligator in one of their lakes. Our deepest sympathy and prayers go out to her family and friends as they grapple with this awful event. Not surprisingly, this incident has focused all the Spanish Lakes communities on the presence of alligators in our own communities as well. The HOA has been in contact with park management to determine their plans to improve safety around our lakes. We have asked that caution signs be immediately posted at all our water areas and are awaiting a response. Be aware that alligator removal is the park owner’s responsibility. It is our understanding that park management is aware of this responsibility and plans to take action to remove alligators from our lakes. This information has thus far not been verified in writing by management. We will keep you informed of park management’s communications with us, and we ask that you inform the HOA at [email protected] of any of your actions or communications regarding this issue so we can track activity and responses. That said, please review the following:
- There is an informational City of PSL brochure on “Animal Control” posted on our website (spanishlakesgolfhoa.com) under the Reference Documents tab. It deals mostly with dogs but does have information about alligator control as well.
- Exercise reasonable caution around the lakes, i.e., be aware that there are apt to be alligators in any Florida lake or pond. Stay alert!
- Never walk dogs or allow small children to play along the bank of any lake or pond.
- If you see ANY alligator in the park, call the clubhouse desk (772-335-4510) to report it. Again, please copy in the HOA so we can track park management’s responses.
- If necessary, call Animal Control at 911 or 866-392-4286.
- DO NOT FEED ANY ALLIGATORS! Feeding alligators is a punishable crime because it can lead to attacks as feeding reduces fear and increases interactions. It has been reliably reported that gators were being fed at Fairways, which may have been a contributing factor to the tragedy. If you are aware of anyone feeding alligators, call 911.
IT’S TIME TO TURN YOUR TRASH TO TREASURES! Our annual Flea Market will be held on Saturday, March 11th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the Golf Village Auditorium. Tables are $20. To reserve a table, contact Jeanne Hebert at 860-841-1696. Coffee and baked goods will be available for purchase, and the Grille will be open for lunch from 11:00 – 1:00. If you want to do some spring cleaning but don’t want to have a table, you can donate items for the HOA tables. We also need baked goods donations for the bake sale table.
2/6/23 – The movie for February 10th will be “Sleepless in Seattle” with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Click here to see flyer. The Grille will be open for dinner from 5 – 6:30pm. Join us for dinner or just come for the free movie. There will be popcorn, soda and candy for sale as well. And don’t forget to bring a cushion or comfortable chair.
2/4/23 PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NOW A SEPERATE “LEGAL UPDATES” TAB.
1/31/23 – The pool was reopened Monday afternoon. A section of deck is cordoned off, but barring any other issues we should be good-to-go on Sunday for the Pool Party.
1/28/23 – You may or may not know it, but the Pool is currently closed for repairs. It is our understanding that every effort is being made to have it open and ready for our Pool Party on Sunday, 2/5. We certainly hope so, but in the event that it isn’t open, we will still have our party, but it will be indoors instead. We’ll keep you posted!
1/27/23 – Someone asked if swimming would be allowed at the Pool Party. The answer is, ABSOLUTELY! We should also mention that on 2/5 the pool area will be closed to those not attending the pool party. Entrance will be only through the Lobby so that we can sign everyone in. That means don’t try to enter via either gate as they both will be locked. Handicapped entrance will be facilitated upon request.
1/20/23 – The HOA Pool Party will be held on February 5th at our SLVG pool. We’re hoping for good weather, but in the event that the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll simply move inside and party on! Come sign up on Friday, 1/27 in the Clubhouse lobby from 5:30 to 6:30pm, or on Monday, 1/30 or Tuesday, 1/31 at the Grille from 11am to 1pm. Click here to see the event flyer.
This event requires a good number of helping hands for setting up and taking down canopies, arranging tables and chairs, and decorating. We also need helpers with food preparation and service. If you can lend a hand, please contact Sandi Pierce at 954-649-7652 or email at [email protected], or Susan George at 484-719-6282, or email [email protected].

10/20/22 – The Holiday Arts and Crafts fair scheduled for November 19, unfortunately, has to be cancelled because of lack of participation. We have identified the Better Business Bureau as another venue for making a complaint should you wish to do so. See the Reference Documents page for more information and the link.
7/14/22 – The next Movie Night will be August 12th. We won’t be serving dinner at the Grille in August, but we will have popcorn, candy and beverages available for purchase. Watch for details to be posted.
7/10/22 – Thanks to all who attended our first free “Movie Night” on July 8th and supported HOA fundraising by purchasing supper, popcorn and/or candy. There was laughter and excitement – a fun time all-in-all. We hope to continue on a monthly basis and we have received some excellent suggestions for future movie choices.
7/2/22 – Our “always on-the-ball” Anna Parker pointed out that the chairs in the clubhouse are hard, so bring a seat cushion or your own comfortable lawn chair. We will also have a 50/50, and beverages for sale along with the popcorn and candy. The supper special at the Grille will be Grilled Chicken Breast on a Bun.
6/27/22 – Our first Movie Night showing will be True Lies. Click here to see details

If this goes well, it can be a monthly event on the 2nd Friday of each month. The Grille will be open from 5:30 to 6:30 so you can grab a bite, and we will also have popcorn and candy for sale. Stay tuned for more information, including what movie will be shown.
6/16/22 – There have been a number of questions about the upcoming Social at the Grille. To clarify . . .
- There is no sign up – just show up.
- Attire is casual. You can use the pool and be in your bathing suit or come in casual clothes. Be comfortable.
- Everyone will order and pay for what they want from the Grille.
- There are special dinner options in addition to the regular Grille fare. Click here to see the specials menu. Click here to see the regular menu.
- There will be a free glass of wine with a meal purchase, compliments of the HOA
- You can eat outside around the pool or inside the auditorium.
- Proceeds go to HOA legal fund.
6/13/22 – The Special Meeting for ALL Golf Village homeowners has been rescheduled for Tuesday, JUNE 14th at 7 pm in the Auditorium.
6/10/22 – We have been told that the Red Cross and PSL Emergency Services were able to help our displaced neighbors to find temporary housing and access to food. Today the Salvation Army has a food truck at the clubhouse and are offering free hot dogs. They will be there until 2:00. Please share this information with your neighbors, especially those working on their damaged homes. Also, under the Sunshine Corner tab we’ve shared the comments of those who have emailed support and prayers for those affected by the storm.
6/9/22 – If you missed the HOA General Membership Meeting on June 2nd, you missed out on a thorough review of the Dispute from start to now. For those who couldn’t be there, we’ve posted the Power Point presentations slides that Bill used. They are under the Reference Documents tab. Just click the link and you can see the slides. We’re also very excited to tell you that we are in the process of setting up our very own Spanish Lakes Golf Village HOA Facebook page, Twitter account and YouTube channel! We want to do whatever it takes to keep you informed and hear what you have to say! As soon as we’re all set, we’ll post the links here for you
6/9/22 – In case you didn’t know, a possible tornado hit Golf Village and severely damaged some houses on West Caribbean. The clubhouse is being used as emergency shelter and the American Red Cross and local emergency services are on site. As far as we know, no one was injured. We have offered to help in any way we can but were told there is nothing to do at this point. We will let you know what we as an organization can do in the future to help those affected by the storm. We’ll also let you know when the meeting has been rescheduled, Stay safe!
6/6/22 – Come have supper and visit with friends and neighbors at the HOA “Social at the Grille” on Saturday, June 18th from 4pm to 7pm. There will be a number of specials in addition to our usual Grille fare, plus a free glass of wine with your meal purchase (compliments of the HOA). You’re sure to find something you like, and as usual everything will be very affordable. There will be both inside and outside seating. 5/15/22 – The HOA annual Memorial Day Event is just around the corner. We look forward to this opportunity to come together as a community to honor those brave souls who fought and died to preserve freedom here at home and the world over. Please click here to see the details. We hope to see you on Memorial Day!
4/28/22 – After much consideration we’re sorry to say that we won’t be having a Pool Party on May 15th. Thanks to all of you who signed the form indicating your intention to attend. Unfortunately, the number wasn’t enough to allow us to have a steel drum band, and that’s a big part of our Pool Party. In addition, we on the Board are a bit “tapped out” with events and the mediation process. We look forward to bringing you a fun filled party in 2023!
4/10/22- The possibility of having the Pool Party on May 15th was discussed at the HOA meeting. The bottom line is that we need to know we’ll have a decent amount of people attending before we proceed. To get an idea of the potential number we are placing a “Commitment to Attend” form in the HOA binder in the clubhouse and will also have it at the Spring Fling ticket sales sessions. If you will be in town and plan to attend please let us know by singing the form. Once we have an idea of the actual interest, we will know if it makes sense to proceed.
4/3/22 – It’s April and our Spring Fling 2022 Dinner-Dance is just around the corner. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT FUNDRAISING EVENT!!! We have a lovely evening being planned and we’re counting on you, our members, to support this effort. (Click here to see the flyer) In addition to hoping you’ll attend this function, we are asking that you volunteer to help with set-up, serving or clean-up. If you want to help out, please contact Sandi Pierce at 954-649-7652 or email her at [email protected]. IT’S TIME TO GET INVOLVED AND WORK TOGETHER FOR OUR COMMON GOOD.
3/13/22 – Thanks to everyone who helped with the HOA Flea Market, and all those who supported the HOA by stopping by. It was a resounding success!
3/3/22 We’ve heard you and we’ve made some changes . . . Our Flea Market has been changed to a one day event and the cost of a table has been reduced to $10.
Here are the revised details:
The Golf Village HOA Flea Market will be held at the Spanish Lakes Golf Village Clubhouse on Saturday March 12 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Set up will be on Friday March 11 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. The HOA will have a table featuring donated goods to benefit the HOA and there will be an HOA bake sale table as well. Don’t have enough items for a table of your own? Find a buddy and share a table, or if you have only a few items you can donate them for the HOA table. (Please bring donated items to the Friday afternoon set-up, and please bring donated baked goods first thing Saturday morning). The Village Grill will also be open offering breakfast and lunch. The cost of a table is $10.00 and is payable at the Friday afternoon set-up. Reservations for a table are required, first come first served. Call Fran at 860-982-1523 to make your reservation or to get questions answered. (Click here to see the flyer)
We hope you’ll support this fundraising effort by getting a table or by stopping by to find a treasure or two, grab a bite to eat, and treat yourself to a yummy baked item.
2/19/22 – The Board is delighted to report that we’ve appointed Chuck Koons to serve as Vice President for the remainder of the open term. We look forward to working with Chuck, and on behalf of all members, thank him for his willingness to serve.
2/17/22 – The annual HOA Flea Market is on!!! The theme is “Trash to Treasures,” and it’s a great opportunity to clear out some of the unwanted, unneeded articles we’ve all accumulated since the start of Covid. This year the event will run for 2 days, March 12th and 13th, from 9am to 2pm. Tables are $20 for the 2 days, and set-up will be on Friday, March 11th from 3pm to 5pm. In addition to all the “treasures” you may find, there will be a bake sale and basket raffle. Plus, bring an appetite because the Grille will be open for breakfast and lunch. As this is an important HOA fundraiser, we are asking those of you not doing a table of your own to donate items for the HOA table. We also need the bakers out there to donate something yummy for the bake sale. For further information and to reserve a table, contact Fran Neal at 860-982-1523.
2/15/22 – Thanks to everyone who bought tickets for the Valentine’s Day Basket raffle. Your support for the HOA means so much! The lucky winner was Annemarie Huggins.
2/13/22 – We plan to reschedule the Pool Party for May 15th, hopefully with good “pool weather” and no event conflicts. We regret that many Snowbirds will already be gone but we hope enough folks will be around to enjoy a fun day. We’ll keep you posted.
2/9/22 – POOL PARTY CANCELLED – We are very sorry to inform you that the Pool Party scheduled for 2/13/22 has been cancelled due to not enough people signing up. We recognize that there were some scheduling conflicts due to the SuperBowl and Valentine’s Day, as well as there being 2 other events in February and some “iffy” weather forecasted. We hope to reschedule it and will keep you advised.
We would like to thank all those who did sign up, and in one case gave a donation in lieu of attending. We planned for this event to be a significant fundraiser and not having this event is a big hit on our financial picture. All of that said, we urge every member to support HOA fundraising efforts in any way possible.
One way to help is to purchase a ticket to win a lovely Valentines Basket that Sandi Pierce, Membership Coordinator, put together. The basket is displayed at the clubhouse. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and can be purchased at the poolside Grille from 10:30 AM to 1PM Thursday 2/10, Friday 2/11 and Monday 2/14. The winning ticket will be drawn Monday afternoon at 4 PM. You need not be present to win.
Another way to help is to come to the poolside Grille on Mondays and Tuesdays. You can get some good food at a reasonable price and every penny over the cost of supplies goes to defray costs the HOA is incurring on everyone’s behalf. The regular and weekly specials menus can be found on the HOA website under The Grille tab.
1/30/22 – The Annual HOA Pool Party will be held on Sunday, February 13th from 12N to 4PM. This will be an important fundraiser to help defray our Dispute legal fees. We are still in need of volunteers to help with set-up in the morning and with serving of food during the party. Please call or email a member of the Board (see numbers and email addresses on the Board of Directors page) to let us know if you can lend a hand. Click here for event details
1/11/22 – The ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING will be on February 3, 2022 at 7:00 PM in the Auditorium. This is the meeting when officers will be elected. Tom Andrews from the police department was unable to attend our January meeting but will speak on 2/3. As usual we’ll have a 50/50 and refreshments. ** If you are unable to attend the meeting but wish to vote, you may designate a proxy. Click here to download the form.
1/11/22 – On Monday 1/17 the HOA will begin running the Grille on Mondays and Tuesdays so you’ll be able to get your lunch poolside 5 days per week. The hours will be 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. We could use some volunteers to help out. Contact Ernie George at 610-762-8938 if you can lend a hand.
10/19/21 – Hi there! I sure hope everyone is enjoying this Florida fall weather. I am so excited to share with all of you the activities that we are planning for our members and friends. This is just a quick note to remind you that we have sign ups going on for our event committees. The current committees are Holiday Decorations, Holiday Mixer, Election Committee, Pool Party, Flea Market, Spring Fling Dinner Dance, and Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony. We also need creative minds on our Fundraising Planning Committee to share ideas and strategies for new events. If you can help out with any of these activities, please call me at 954 649-7652. Remember, “Many hands really do make light work”. Thanks in advance. Sandi Pierce, Membership Coordinator
1/3/22 – DON’T MISS THE HOA MEETING THIS THURSDAY, JANUARY 6th at 7:00 PM in the AUDITORIUM. THERE IS A LOT GOING ON THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT!
Your attendance is important as things are happening that will impact us all adversely if not addressed. On the plus side, we are starting our monthly speaker initiative with Tom Andrews from the St. Lucie Police Dept. who will talk with us about the citizens volunteer program. We will also have a 50/50 raffle and refreshments. *** Please note that meetings are for members only. If you haven’t joined the HOA or renewed your membership, you can do so at the meeting.
12/1/21 – We have decided to extend Holiday Mixer ticket sales through 12/2. That will be the absolute last opportunity to purchase tickets.
11/20/21 – Today we had our final ticket selling session. If for some reason you missed the sessions but still want to buy tickets, you may call Susan George at 484-719-6282 or Sandi Pierce at 954-649-7652 BEFORE THURSDAY 11/25 to set up a time to get them. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AFTER 11/24.
11/16/21 – Let’s kick off the holiday season with some fun and friendship! The HOA will host a “Holiday Mixer” on December 4th from 7PM to 10PM in the Clubhouse Auditorium. Hors d’oeuvres and assorted desserts will be served, along with punch (both alcohol and non-alcohol versions) and coffee. There will be Holiday tunes, a 50/50 and a Holiday Basket Raffle. Tickets are $5 and will be on sale in the Clubhouse on Nov. 17th from 1 – 3PM, Nov. 19th from 5 – 7PM and Nov. 20th from 10AM – 12N. Contact Sandi Pierce at 954-649-7652 with any questions. We’re excited to finally get things moving again and hope to see you there!
11/9/21 – Let’s kick off the holiday season with some fun and friendship! The HOA will host a “Holiday Mixer” on December 4th from 7PM to 10PM in the Clubhouse Auditorium Lounge, Card Room or Auditorium, depending on room availability. Please note that if the Auditorium still isn’t available, ticket sales will be limited by space restrictions. Finger food (hors d’oeuvres) and assorted desserts will be served, along with punch (both alcohol and non-alcohol versions) and coffee. There will be Holiday tunes, a 50/50 Raffle, and a Holiday Basket Raffle. Tickets are $5 and will be on sale at the Nov. 13th General Membership Meeting, and in the Clubhouse on Nov. 17th from 1 – 3PM, Nov. 19th from 5 – 7PM and Nov. 20th from 10AM – 12N. Contact Sandi Pierce at 954-649-7652 with any questions. We’re excited to finally get things moving again and hope to see you there!
11/6/21 – IN THE EVENT OF RAIN, THE MEETING WILL BE CANCELLED AND NOT RESCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER. We’ve been advised that the Auditorium WILL BE READY for our meeting on Thursday, December 2nd at 7:00 PM.
11/6/21 – The rained out HOA meeting of 11/5 has been rescheduled for November 12th at 5:00 PM in the Clubhouse parking lot. In the event of rain, the meeting will be moved into the Card Room. Please bring seating for yourself. At the meeting we will begin selling tickets for our Holiday Mixer. See below for details. New and renewal membership signup is ongoing at $5 for the rest of this year and all of 2022. We will also have a 50/50 Raffle again so be sure to bring some cash. If you are unable to attend you will be able to review the meeting minutes when they are posted to the website and, as always, may communicate with the Board via the HOA email, [email protected].
9/9/21 – Upon further consideration . . .
- While we initially planned to change the HOA season from January through December to September through August, we’ve determined that it would require significant amendments to our bylaws, which is not practical right now. Therefore annual membership will continue to run from January 1st through December 31st.
- Due to Covid we waived the dues for the 2021 season, however payment of dues will be required for 2022. Dues will be $5 as usual.
- In consideration of recent financial outlays, we are asking everyone to join or renew membership and pay the dues for the 2022 season now instead of waiting until January.
- New or renewed membership will extend through December 31st, 2022.
- Per the bylaws, all homeowners with legal title to a Golf Village home, or who are registered with park ownership and entitled to homeowner badges are eligible to be a member of the HOA.
We are changing things up a bit as this will also mark the official start of the new season and the beginning of your annual membership. Instead of doing membership sign up in January, half way through the season, we will now have membership signup start in September. Signups will of course continue through the year whenever people want to join. While last year dues were waived, this year we are charging $5 annual dues as usual. You will be issued a new membership card with the payment of your dues. We are also resuming the 50/50 raffle, so if you are having a lucky day you may actually go home with more cash in your pocket than you came with!
9/3/21 – The first HOA meeting of the 2021 – 2022 season will be held on September 10th at 5:00PM in the Clubhouse parking lot. We have a whole lot of things to share with you so please try to attend! Those of you unable to make it will be able to review the meeting minutes when they are posted to the website and, as always, may communicate with the Board via the HOA email, [email protected]
We are working for you and we need your help!
8/3/21 – The continuing Waste Pro saga: As issues with Waste Pro continue and confusion still reigns regarding service, we have reached out to the company and have established a relationship with someone there so we can be kept apprised of any changes, and can then share information with all of you. Per our contact person at Waste Pro, as of August 1st, the scheduled recycling pick up day remains Thursday, and trash pick up continues to be on Friday. What has changed is yard waste pick up which will now be weekly on Wednesday rather than Saturday. As we are all aware, Waste Pro has had significant staffing challenges that have impaired their ability to always provide service as scheduled. While we may not feel sympathetic, it is the reality. On the plus side, they are actively recruiting staff.
7/30/21 – Regarding continued problems with trash and recycling pickup: The HOA Board has investigated various explanations and rumors regarding the continued issues with Waste Pro service to our park. One resident was advised by Waste Pro that there was a new contract with the park owners and that services would be changing accordingly. That apparently was incorrect information. According to the corporate office, there have been no changes to the contract and therefore no scheduled changes to the days and frequency of pickups. Unfortunately, Waste Pro continues to have internal problems that are interfering with their ability to provide service as they should. While we all do understand that many businesses are struggling to get back on track, and we can be patient up to a point, in the event that trash or recycling pickup does not occur within a reasonable time, we as residents can call Waste Pro to register our concern and to request that timely service be provided.
7/6/21 – We wanted to let you all know that we have received some interest in the open Board positions. Much appreciated! However, we’ve come to realize that working on filling the positions is logistically impossible for us right now. Therefore we are putting things on hold until September. For those who are new to SLGV, there has always been a summer break for the HOA. We have our first meeting of the season in October and the last meeting in May or June. We’ll be working on things in September and will schedule the first general meeting in October.
6/17/21 – As you are no doubt aware, there have been some recent issues and changes to the Board of Directors. We are very sorry to confirm that our wonderful President, John Wynne, has tendered his resignation effective immediately. With John’s resignation and the passing of Vice President Vincent Anepete earlier this year, we are left with a significant leadership deficit!
As the remaining members of the Board of Directors, we are asking anyone willing and able to fill the open positions by Board appointment for the remainder of 2021 to please contact us. Hopefully we’ll be able to conduct annual elections in February as outlined in the bylaws to establish an official elected Board for the coming year.
In the meantime we will continue efforts to follow-up on issues of concern to HOA members and other residents of SLGV. While we are in the summer lull as far as meetings go, we’ll make every attempt to keep you advised via the HOA website and email of anything that we feel is important or will be of interest to you.

5/14/21 – In case you didn’t see the announcement, this weekend there will be a free bulky waste drop off and also a Tree giveaway. Click this link to the City of PSL calendar and from there click the event for details.
5/10/21 – In case you haven’t heard, we have a new Recreation Director, Patti Rossi! We welcome her and look forward to resumption of events and programs.
5/10/21 – One more Grille update: The poolside Grille will be opening on May 18th!!! It will be open from 11:30 to 1:00, Tues. thru Friday. Cooks are still needed so if you are interested in volunteering, call Carolyn at 207-7855.
5/5/21 – GRILLE status: We got our wires crossed as we didn’t realize that Carolyn Nunziata had already begun plans to get the Grille going. Therefore, there won’t be any need for a meeting on May 11th. Anyone who wants to volunteer to work at the Grille should contact Carolyn. Sorry for any confusion.
5/3/21 – We were given approval by Eric Wynne to get the Grille up and running again. Hurrah! In the past it was largely coordinated by John and Carole Raley, but they’ve done their share and now it’s time for other GV residents to step up. Anyone who wants to help in the Grille should contact Ernie George and come to a planning meeting on Tuesday, May 11th at 2:00 PM in the clubhouse library. Ernie can be reached at 610-762-8938 or [email protected].
4/23/21 – There will be a virtual NICE (Neighborhood Improvement & Community Engagement) meeting on May 18th from 6 – 8 pm. Our community is in the East 3 neighborhood. Click here for more information and to register.
4/22/21 – UPDATE ON THE TRASH AND REYCLING DEBACLE: The Wynne Corporation has been in contact with Waste Pro on a daily basis, as have many of you. One of our residents had an inspector from the city here surveying the problem. She also contacted the mayor’s office. Waste Pro has stated that their problem is one of staffing, and that they are trying to resolve it. It’s our understanding that our recycling is going to be picked up today, and that trash will be picked up tomorrow. If both the pickups don’t happen today and tomorrow, or if this happens again, emails to the code compliance officer will definitely be in order. His name is Juan Pastrana and his email is [email protected].
4/22/21 – We’ve been advised that there will be another Covid vaccine clinic at Fairways. Vaccination appointments will be available on Wednesday, May 5th at the Fairways Clubhouse. Interested persons should call 772-489-0943 to make an appointment.
4/20/21 – We received word yesterday that another Covid vaccination clinic will be held tomorrow, 4/21, at Spanish Lakes Fairways. It is for Spanish Lakes residents and, as of this morning, there were 15 slots left. If you want to reserve a slot, call the Fairways clubhouse at 772-489-0943. Please pass the word as only HOA members received an email about this.
4/2/21 – Please note that the April 9th General Membership Meeting will be held at 5 PM rather than at 2 PM. Unfortunately, we still have to meet outside in the clubhouse parking lot. We hope that this will allow those who’ve been unable to attend due to work or other obligations earlier in the day to join us. Please pass the word!
3/16/21 – On behalf of all the residents of Golf Village, the HOA Board would like to thank Marie Bittner and all the volunteers who worked hard to “get the word out” to all SLGV residents about the Food Bank Truck event today. The volunteers were: Sherri Anepete, Rose Argis, Lois Conlon, Regina Conrad, Linda Corrigan, Betsy Donahue, Sue Fitzpatrick, Anne Fornabi, Carol Hill, Maryann Kierych, Jim Michelini, Anna Parker, Sandy Pierce, Terri Shamroth, Marie Snyder , Marie Taber, Sarah Vaughn, Doug & Celia Warren, Anne Quigano, Rick Zwack
3/8/21 – Did you know that the 2021 Directories are here? Stop by the Clubhouse to get your copy. Bring your Badge.
3/8 – We will need someone to take over the duties of Sunshine Coordinator as Sandi has been elected to the position of Membership Coordinator. If anyone is interested please send us and email at [email protected].
3/1/21 – As was announced at the last meeting, because we haven’t been able to enjoy our usual activities and events, we are waiving dues for this season. We will continue to welcome new members throughout the rest of the 2020 – 2021 season. If you are unable to attend the next meeting but still wish to be a member, you may contact us via email and we’ll get you signed-up.
3/1/21 – Just a reminder that we depend on all of you to let us know if your friends and neighbors have been ill, have passed away or have lost a close family member. Our Sunshine Coordinator will send out cards of caring and support. Please contact Sandi Pierce at [email protected] if you have news to share.
